Youth & Women Entrepreneurship Program
There is always an opportunity
Creating sustainable lives
Beginning of 2018, Jifundishe in collaboration with Street Business School designed an entrepreneurship training/program to support women and youth to start sustainable business ventures rooted in the local economy, such that they can have reliable income streams into the future in Imbaseni and adjacent villages. The course is run and managed by Jifundishe Street Business School Graduates who are certified coach, It is a 6-month program with the aim of building the capacity of women and youth in the community on the best entrepreneurial practices, so as to create sustainable opportunities for them and to lift their families out of poverty by connecting people worldwide in a circle that enriches everyone. It starts at May/June months of the year and ends Beginning of December. It is built on 3 overarching, and key, components: selection, business content and support or relationship development. Before the first month of the training; recruitment, orientation and a baseline survey are conducted to the selected individuals. An SBS training class can have 30 to 50 participants but again this depends on resources of the host organization. Jifundishe has 2 cohorts from the past 2 years; in 2018 the program had 45 women, youth and older people who graduated as a first cohort they all started businesses which were relevant to their environment. In 2019 Jifundishe enrolled 35 youth and women for the entrepreneurship class and they all managed to identify the business they can do in their surrounding environment, the visits to the homes were thoroughly performed by the coaches and from the number enrolled only 23 women and youth were able to achieve and follow the key stages and skills attained from the development training and graduated thus Jifundishe refers them as the Entrepreneurship program graduates second cohort of 2019.
Jifundishe is grateful to Lorretta Beckner for funding the entrepreneurship program and the SBS coaches who facilitated the program. The community has shown a great interest and already took initiatives to eliminating the wave of poverty by engaging themselves in small businesses. Jifundishe will continue providing the training to more women, youth and older people.

Imagine not having business knowledge or skills, access to a credit card, student loans, a mortgage or a car lease. For a woman or youth in Tanzania, credit and access to capital is one of the most elusive, yet necessary things to push someone forward. For the amount you spend on gas or groceries for a week you can help provide women/youth with that next step.
Providing women and youth with the agency to be at the center of their own solutions!
